Simply Golden

The amazing and talented Nancy McKinney sent me some more Canadian images that she made (including the one on my side bar immediately after tonight's very stressful hockey game!) and I wanted to make a card using some of the images. If you are interested in these images contact Nancy - there are several other images that I haven't used yet and they are stinking cute!

I picked the mittens and toque and instead of making the maples leaves white as they are on the mittens everyone is wearing I made the gold in honour of our men's short track speed skaters who won 2 Gold medals; so as I am writing this post Canada has the most GOLD medals at the games WOHOO!!!

I LOVE these mittens (I wore mine faithfully in Whistler, even when my hands were hot) not only because they are so stinkin' cute but because of what they mean. HBC who made the mittens are donating proceeds from each pair sold (meaning shipped out of the warehouse, so even the ones given away count) to our amateur athletes and that is HUGE as most do not have the financial backing of endorsements and it's a struggle for them to make ends meet - so a big shout out to all of you who bought the mittens in support of our athletes!!

GO CANADA GO!!
Thanks for stopping by - enjoy the rest of the games I know I will but Sunday's hockey game will be VERY stressful & exciting!!

Golden Girls

I made my Bellariffic Friday's card with the thought of the women's hockey team gold medal game & I am so excited that they are Golden Girls!!

For my card I used Karen G's Sweet Sunday sketch from this week (SSSC57) Hockey-Mom-a-Bella is stamped with mementos ink onto bella's bestest paper and coloured with copics. I used a pitch black atyou spica pen on the trim of the hockey bag. For the skate blades I used a gelly roll pen, and for the hockey tape I used a white gel pen then drew the black tape lines back on.

The image is cut with a small octagon nesties & layered onto a black octagon. All the cs was embossed with swiss dots & I added some ribbon and a button.

I am excited to stop by Bloggabella and see all the other Winter sports/Winter cards in honour of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. I will be sad next week when they are over, I have been watching everything on TV (here in Canada we have 4 stations showing the games so you don't miss a thing!) I guess next week is back to reality and getting stuff done around the house!!

Next weeks Bellariffic Friday's challenge is "Polka Dots Big & Small we love them all" Make sure you email your card to Em by midnight Thursday and have a great weekend - I am so nervous about the men's hockey game tonight, but if they play like they did Wednesday night we will be OK!

GO CANADA GO!!

Canadian Thanks

Hubby and I were lucky enough to be guests last weekend in Whistler for the Olympics, and he is being taken to all the hockey games and closing ceremonies so I needed some thank yous. I've been struggling all week with the concept and then this morning the wonderfully talented Nancy McKinney sent me an email that she put something up on her blog that I might like so I immediately went to look & was so excited!

I made 5 cards tonight, and I am so thrilled with these images, we Canadians are normally very quietly patriotic so it's been exciting to see how proud & loud we have been during the Olympics.

For all you Canadian girls make sure you pop over to Nancy's blog and download the images & have fun. As I am writing this I am watching our Canadian Women's hockey team receive their gold medals - and yes Wendy I saw hubby on tv tonight since he was in row 2!!

Ruby & Rose

I'd hoped to get this card made last night, but then the Canada - Germany hockey game started & my focus was gone! I hope they have as much success today against Russia; that's going to be an amazing game!!

For my card today I used Mercy's sketch from this week (MTSC62) with Ruby & Rose LULU from Stamping Bella. I love these LULU's and am patiently waiting for more! The image is stamped on bella's bestest paper & coloured with copics. I added some red stickles to the center of the flowers & used a lemon, red and pitch black atyou spica pen on their dresses. I paper pierced around the ds paper which is basic greys June Bug collection.

You have until midnight tomorrow to email Em you cards for this weeks Bellariffic Friday which is Winter or Winter Sports because of the Olympics.

I am loving watching them (constantly it's a wonder anything has gotten done!) Today hubby left to go back to Vancouver to be schmoozed. He is seeing the Canada - Russia game today, and the Sweden - Slovakia game. Tomorrow he goes to both women's hockey metal games, Friday to both men's hockey semi finals, Saturday to the men's bronze metal game & speed skating, Sunday to the men's gold metal hockey game & the closing ceremonies - Yes I am bitter!!

Thanks for stopping by & GO CANADA GO!!

My Amazing Weekend

I don't have a card to share today but I did want to share with you where I was on the weekend
Whistler, BC!!

Hubby's boss invited 3 couples up for the weekend - we saw the skeleton races; I tried to take a picture but the whiz by so fast that they were just a blurr!

On Saturday we went to ski jumping and after we were done we sat on a patio because it was so nice out there! Who can say they went to the Winter Olympics & sat outside on a patio have some drinks & listening to a band - crazy!

If you've never been to Whistler, BC you should check it out -
it's absolutely breathtaking and you can downhill ski, cross country ski, hike, bike, ski & shop surrounded by the most beautiful mountains!
For all you watching the Canadian coverage - I was one of the crazy's waving to get on TV Sunday morning in Whistler & we made it; that was fun!!
Don't forget this weeks Bellariffic Fridays theme is Winter Sports or Winter in honour of the Winter Olympics being in Canada - email your card to Em by midnight Thursday

Colour-challenged Bellariffic

Happy Friday - I can't believe it's already here! This weeks Bellariffic Friday's challenge was a colour theme - pink, orange & turquoise; this was a challenge for me!! Honestly I had the wrong colours in my head so I finally went with a rose colour (kinda pink), turquoise and pumpkin

Amplee 'tude is stamped with mementos ink onto bella's bestest paper & coloured with copics. I paper pieced her dress (so I can enter the wonderful Joannabella's blogaversary contest!!) and added some orange and turquoise glitter to the ice cream cone. The ds paper is sewed on and added a simple ribbon and button to finish it off.

Remember to stop by Bloggabella to see all the other colourful bellariffic friday cards - I am so excited about next weeks theme - WINTER SPORT or WINTER in honour of the Olympics which are being held in Canada!! Make sure you email your card to Em by midnight on Thursday.

Have a great weekend - I will be watching the games all weekend long; GO CANADA GO!

Rain, Rain

Well it appears they don't have to worry about the rain anymore at the Vancouver Olympics; just record breaking warm temps - how crazy is that?!

For my inspiration I used Mercy's sketch from this week (MTSC61) I just bought this sweet digi image from The Greeting Farm and had to colour her up. I printed the WS Rain, Rain digi on neenah paper and coloured it with copics. I wanted a plastic rain jacket & hat look so I then coloured her coat, hat & boots with a clear glaze pen. I added some orange rhinestones for the buttons; they weren't the exact orange as the coat so I coloured them with a copic marker. The DS paper is from My Minds Eye's Oh La La collection.

Thanks for stopping by & have a fantastic day!!
