Birthday Wishes

Today is my oldest brothers birthday and I remembered to make him a card!!  It even managed to get in the mail, but the timing may be a little off!

I started with Taylor's sketch from Friday (TESC134) and used TE's Whimsical Wishes Make a Wish stamp set.  I stamped the cake plate & cake onto neenah ultra smooth paper and coloured them with copics.  I used a clear glaze pen on the plate to give it the look of glass.  On the cake I used some crystal stickles on the top icing, an atyou spica pen fro the swirls.  On the bottom layer of the cake I used the clear atyou spica pen on the circles and for the icing along the bottom I used adirondacks dimensional pearls is espresso.  I paper pieced both the cake plate and cake onto the cream oval, the cake I popped up with dimensionals.

The ds paper is from my stash of BG 6x6 pads called arcahic - this is a favourite of mine for masculine cards.  I added some chocolate ribbon and  some bella dots (they weren't the exact brown I wanted to I coloured them with copics & presto a perfect shade!!) - I did forget to round the corners, but aside from that I was true to the sketch!

Thanks for stopping by- have a fantastic day

An Anniversary

This week The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog is celebrating it's 1st Anniversary!! Here we are at sketch SSS52! This weeks sketch is a sketch with a spin - buttons & bows.

I decided to make a masculine card, I never make them and I thought it might be good to have them in reserve! I went through my Taylored Expressions stamps and inked up one of the Whimsical Wishes stamps; Boys will be Boys.

The images is stamped on cream paper, I stamped the image twice and paper pieced the ties on; they are popped at the bottom of the tie to give them more dimension. The ds paper is from one of my Taylored Expressions kits; the ds paper is My Minds Eyes Abbey Road

I added some buttons and a bow to complete the sketch. Please make sure you stop by the Sweet Stop blog to see what the Sugar Babies have created & I hope you can play along with us

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by

More Birthday Bash Celebrating

Whew I managed to make another card so here are the final 2 cards I made for Taylored Expressions Birthday Bash. I played along in 10 of the challenges; thanks for all the inspiration!!

The first card I used a cupcake from Taylored Expressions Whimsical Wishes set For the Love of Cupcakes . I used Taylor's inspiration challenge (TEBBTV) for the theme and then used Laura's
sketch (TEBBLF)for the layout. I paper toled the cupcake (TEBBDE) and stitched (TEBBJP) my pattern paper from Taylored Expressions For the Love of Cupcakes Key ingredients

For this card a cupcake from Taylored Expressions Doctor's Orders. The image is stamped on Taylor's Choice Snow White cs and coloured with copics. For this card I used Karen's sketch (TEBBKG) and Charmaine's
colour (TEBBCI) challenge except I used Kiwi Kiss for my green. I ended up paper piecing on this card too, you know it's one of my favourite things to do!

I hope you had a chance to play along with the challenges and have a great day!

Sleepy in Mass...

Good morning I arrived safe & sound at my BFF's yesterday morning - and yes she did meet me with a latte and a big hug! I managed to sleep for about an hour on the flight, and a little dozing but that was it, so I was a sleepy girl yesterday! After a shower & lunch we hit Karen's stamp room & I managed to make 2 cards while entertaining Karen with the lack of brain power (it really was bad) BUT in 2 cards I was able to play along with Taylored Expressions Birthday Bash and did 8 of the challenges (4 per card) YEAH SLEEPY!!
Here's the first card I made using the sweet new set from Taylored Expressions called Trick or Treat II; I really like this set because you don't have to just use the images for Halloween, this will be my nephews birthday card it's in October so I am ahead of schedule!

I used one of the sketch challenges from the birthday bash, the one done by my BFF! (TEBBKM)
The image is stamped with mementos ink onto Taylor's choice snow white paper and coloured with copics. I paper pieced (TEBBDB) his mask and cape. The colours are from Prism and are Intense Teal, Rose Medium, and Sunflower Medium (TEBBJC) On the Intense Teal I used my new Spellbinders Impressabilities circles. I added buttons along the strip (TEBBSK) and some Xmas Red stickles to his "S" and on top of his head.

I will post the other card later, we are off to shop a little this afternoon - it's amazing how rejuvenated you can feel when you actually get some sleep! I did last until 10:30 last night, which is an early be time for me but under the circumstances was very impressive!

Have a great day

A special Invitation

We are celebrating my dad's birthday tomorrow with a wee party and these are the invitations I sent out, it's just a small party with my parents siblings and their spouses who live in town & then us kids and families so it should be a lot of fun - good thing my brother loves to barbecue because he's in charge of the steaks!
The stamps are from Taylored Expressions Whimsical Wishes line Boys will be Boys. The used black stazon and stamped the barbecue on metal sheet then cut it and paper pieced it. The rest of the barbecue is coloured with copics. The sentiment and hats are also from the Whimsical Wishes line but the set is Beary Special Accessories.

The cb is real red layered with old olive and the design paper is from Imaginese called twitter. The you're invited is stamped with Roman Fonts from Just Rite Stampers. I used the same nesties to cut out the invitation details and layered it on the inside of the card (forgot to take a picture sorry)

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day

Sweet Little One

Happy Sunday - today we are off to a baby shower for my girlfriend & her hubby who had a little boy last month. My hubby was not excited about a baby shower until I explained it's a 10 course Chinese dinner; naturally he was in!

For my card I used Taylored Expressions Beary Special set. I love this set not just because of the images but also because proceeds from the set are going to Sick Kids hospital in Toronto, where some of my friends have had to take their kids; and another is waiting for her little guy to have surgery this summer - I don't know what they would do without this amazing hospital.

The image is coloured with lyras & mineral spirits and I paper pieced the patches on his paws and ears with basic greys archaic paper (didn't know I had it until I was digging in my stash today!)

The cb is Bashful Blue layered with whisper white embossed with swiss dots. The DS paper is layered on bashful blue, paper pieced then I added bashful blue ribbon. The image is also layered on bashful blue. I also stamped the image on the outside of the card in bashful blue

Hope you have a great day - we are looking forward to meeting the babe tonight & hubby is looking forward to the amazing dinner!!

Thanks for stopping by

Sailing Thanks...

My hubby was taken on an amazing trip over the Canadian May long weekend; he went to Boston for the Volvo Cup and while docked they were taken on the boats then they followed them out of the harbour when the race re-started - how cool is that?! He asked for some Thank You cards to send and I have struggled making them because I don't have a sailboat or any type of boat stamp, I finally sent an email to amazingly talented friend Nancy and asked if she had anything - she (being the amazingly talented person she is) immediately had an email of a ship for me to print & colour - how freakin' great is that?! I printed it off & my hubby was blown away that she could get something together for me.

I printed the image on Gina K Pure luxury 120lb cardstock and let it sit for awhile then coloured it with my copics, I didn't heat set the image & the ink seemed fine from our laser printer. I struggled a bit because all my designer paper is too feminine and I wanted to use the team colours so I finally decided to have a white cb, layered with Tangerine Tango, then Pacific Point which I embossed with Swiss dots. The image is cut with nesties and layered on Tangerine Tango.

The Sentiment is from Taylored Expressions Whimsical Wishes stamp set called Branching Out, which Nancy designs. If you haven't had a chance stop by Taylored Expressions and see her amazing sets - for 3 months a set Nancy designed is raising money for Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto which is such an amazing cause!

Thanks so much Nancy you are so talented & I am so happy to call you a friend - we will definitely get together the next time I out east for a visit!!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great Sunday

Tee-riffic Thanks

A few weeks ago (OK several many weeks ago) my hubby asked me to make him some Thank you cards in regards to golf; now considering he bank rolls the house you would think I would make these a little quicker...

For my cards I used Taylored Expressions TECC70 challenge from this week & all the paper is from the March Key
Ingredients kit (LOVE THESE!!) The stamp is from her Whimsical Wishes line called Boys will be Boys.

The images are stamped with memento tuxedo black ink and coloured with copics, I stamped the flag on red cs and paper pieced it using dimesionals. The Thank You is from another Whimsical Wishes set called Fresh Flowers

Now I just need to make another set of Thank you's for him - wonder how long those will take!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great Tuesday I'm off for my last golf lesson so these cards are fitting!

Two by Two

My BFF Karen and Jodi Collins are hosting a challenge for Taylored Expressions on Stampin Out Alzheimer's, and I HAD to play along!! The challenge is 2x2; use only brown and pink paper and 2 embellishments.

I chose a stamp from Taylored Expressions Whimsical Wishes set called Fresh Flowers. The image is stamped with Memento ink and coloured with copics, I admit I used a little green on the leaves; didn't want dead looking leaves on my flowers! I was on the phone with Karen at the time (you know our afternoon chat) and confirmed that was OK.

The cb is Pretty in Pink, and the DS paper is from Bo Bunny. I cut the image with nesties rectangles and layered it on rectangles cut from the DS paper. I used my SU punch for the edges of the strip and added some chocolate chip ribbon and some pink rhinestones

If you haven't had a chance make sure you pop over to Stampin' Out Alzheimer's and play along with the challenges, Jen Tapler has done an amazing thing by setting up the blog and all the challenges & raising so much money for the Alzheimer's Society

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day

Happy Holidays...

In keeping with my plan of a Christmas card a week I decided Taylored Expressions cupcake challenge was perfect. I must admit I don't normally put my stuff on at an angle so this was out of my comfort level!

I stamped my cupcake from Home Sweet Home with memento tuxedo black ink and coloured the image with lyras, prismacolor and mineral spirits. Both the image and the patterned paper are cut with nesties. The DS is from my minds eye.

The CB is su's Pretty in Pink layered with Baja Breeze embossed with snowflakes. I used SU's new lace border punch and added soft pink rhinestones along the bottom

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day!!!

HELLO IAN

I have seen so many of these Greeting Farm stamps on blogs & Janet is a huge fan of their Anya stamps so when I was placing and order from StampinandScrappin I added Hello Ian onto my order & I have to say I had a lot of fun colouring him!!

Hello Ian is stamped with memento tuxedo black ink on Gina K's Pure Luxury paper and he is coloured with copics. I paper pieced his hat and scarf; the DS paper is Basic Greys Marrakech. His flower is coloured; the center is again the Marrakech DS paper and I used a gelly roll pen to give some sparkle to the center of the flower.

The card base is SU's Tempting Turquoise and the DS paper is again from teh Marrakech line; it is layered on SU's chocolate chip card stock. Teh image is cut with a rectangle nesties and layered on a solid cs from the Basic Grey Marrkech

I wanted to keep this as a boy card so I didn't add any embellishments PLUS I wanted the stamp to be the main focus

Thanks for stopping by & have a fantastic day!

Has spring sprung???

When I saw Taylor's Cupcake Challenge this week I decided it would be perfect for another Easter card (that & the Easter DS paper was still on my desk!!)

The image is from Sweet Springs and is stamped with Memento's ink and coloured with Lyras & Prismacolor using mineral spirits. This is my first attempt with the prismacolor and I must say I did like having the bold colours to work with.

The image is cut with nesties and mounted on SU's Tempting Turquoise. The cb is So Saffron layered with Tempting Turquoise and Regal Rose. The DS paper is from Creative Imagination. I added a Heidi Swap ghost flower with an SU button. I added a bella bonbon to the top of the cupcake; the 5mm ones are a perfect fit. For the bunnies eye I used a pink TwinkleTaylors Tiny

I hope spring has sprung where you are; we are suppose to get more snow tonight; 4" of snow tonight in the Calgary and along the foothills (of the Rocky's) 12" - sadly we live closer to the foothills then I would like (today!!) Although I love my view of the Rocky's I don't LOVE the extra snow it means - at least hubby is in town for this snow fall!!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day

Cupcake Christmas

I know I seem to have embraced this Christmas card a week thing - this is actually my second Christmas card this week (I must toot my own horn!!)

I've had this image stamped and ready to go & it fit perfectly with Taylor's Cupcake Challenge this week (TECC60).

The image is from Season's Sweetings and is stamped with Memento tuxedo black ink on Gina K pure luxury cs and cut with an oval nesties. I coloured with lyras and mineral spirits and added some blue stickles for the garland and some Kaiser pink Rhinestones on the tree and the top of the cupcake.

The DS paper is from Fancy Pants Happy Holidays collections and it is layered on green bazzil cs that I found in my stash; it is actually a package of Christmas Bazzil, the blue is from the same package. The scallop is SU's eyelet border punch and I added Taylor's Tiny Twinkles along the holes of the punch.

Funny I made this card on the first day of Spring when it was absolutely gorgeous here; I even had my window open while colouring my Christmas card; weird I am usually panicking in December when it's freezing and snowing out!
Hope you have a great Saturday and thanks for taking the time to stop by

Cupcake Christmas

As you all know last week I started my goal of 1 Christmas card per week; and I surpassed that by making 2 (YEAH ME!!) Well today I have this weeks Christmas card made, I must confess I am surprised I have been so good, really I didn't think I would make another until at least October!!

For this card I used Taylor's Cupcake Challenge 59 & a Taylored Expressions Cupcake stamp!!! I was really excited to ink up one from her Home Sweet Home set.

The image is stamped on Gina K's Pure Luxury cs and coloured with copics, popped the song book up off the cupcake and used liquid applique and glitter for the earmuffs.

The card base is Papertrey white cs layered with SU's riding hood red and DS paper from My Minds Eye called "be merry". The circle is SU's Kiwi Kiss and the strip of blue is baja breeze; both were embossed with cuttlebugs snowflakes. I added a 7mm olive Bella bonbon for the top of the cupcake.

Thanks for another great sketch Taylor; I am looking forward to my new stamps from Taylored Expressions arriving this week!!
