Masculine Birthday

I have had this card idea rattling around in my head since seeing Lauren Meader sketch late Friday night (thanks for posting it early!) and my friend Nancy

has started a colour and texture challenge that I

wanted to do PLUS I
never make guy cards and my brother's birthday is next month so it was perfect!

The colour/texture challenge was interesting because I didn't' want to colour in grey, black, silver or white so I had to find a solid stamp, not that easy in my collection - I love to colour :)

The card really is formed around the designer metal sheet that I embossed with cuttlebugs tiny mosaics.
I have had the sheet of metal since the summer - I bought it at Stamping Bella (sorry can't find it on

the site). Funny story behind it is that RYAN sold it to me! Yep he knows I am a lover (or sucker) for new things so he showed me a card that Nicky had made using the metal sheet and shock of all shocks it ended up in my bag - lesson here don't think you are safe if Ryan is in the store, he too will show you amazing things to try/buy :) How I miss them!

Once I had the metal embossed I found layers for the rest - the card base is SU's Basic Grey. The DS paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle called "love letters" I picked it up today at Scrapbooker's Paradise (north) - funny thing I always told Gloria I couldn't find much there -yeah ate my words big time today (and was reminded of that) the bag was FULL!

I heat embossed SU's Happy from Happy Everything on SU's shimmery white with black embossing powder and layered it on both basic grey and basic black. "Birthday" is stamped with SU's basic black on shimmery white and I used several circle punches to mount it again with basic grey & black. I sponged the edges on the white so it wasn't so harsh and added a piece of Doodle Bug paper frill from the tuxedo collection (another item from my Scrapbooker's Paradise bag), it was white so again I sponged it with the grey to soften the white.

I really like the effect of the metal, so thanks again Nicky for the inspiration and Ryan for showing :)

Need a little Hugabug?!

I LOVE the hugabugs from Stamping Bella, and miles (the

dragonfly) has been waiting to be

inked up. I figured in honour of all the new hugabugs I ordered today from Stamping Bella I would use him!

This was a fun card to make thanks to Amy R's great sketch and I combined it with Kritina's colour challenge for this week.

Miles is stamped on Gina K white cs with memento black ink, and colour with Lyra Pencils which I have really enjoyed using the past couple of days. I stamped him 2x on SU's vellum paper with black stazon and cut out the wings then layered them onto the image. I stuck them down at different ranges to try and
get the effect of him flying or at least fluttering about!

The card base is SU's baja breeze; layered with DS Pumpkin Pie (the retired one) and chocolate chip and some Old Olive Ribbon.

I used nesties (of course) to cut out miles and layered him on SU's Old Olive cs. to finish off the image I added some bella dots in orange crackle.

If you haven't been over to Stamping Bella yet you need to stop by they have released a bunch of Valentine stamps, and I told Ryan (the MR in Stamping Bella) that for someone who normally doesn't make Valentine cards I have a lot of Valentine stamps coming!!

...I See Alice Kissing Butterflies..

Whew, I found the Looking for Love Release Week Challenge from Verve yesterday on SCS.

Four sketches that completed

by 12pm MT today and you have a
chance to win the entire new release!! Well since I don't have any Verve stamps yet (but I did notice shipping to Canada is good) I thought this was perfect - except of course having to make 4 cards in 2 days!

This is the last one and it is also my card for Bella-riffic Fridays "New Beginnings". I picked Butterfly Kisses (alice in Paris) from Stamping Bella because she hasn't been inked AND I like the idea of slowing down and enjoying/ being grateful for things it's a good mantra for the New Year!

Alice is stamped with Memento black ink on Papertrey White CS, I wanted to see how it was to colour with my Lyra Pencils that I bought at Stamping Bella; the hole time I was colouring I was thinking of Nicky because she introduced me to this format of colouring and I wavered a bit but before moving bought the set; she said she knew I would - she is a wise woman!!!

I used my nesties to cut out the image and mounted it on SU's Rose Red. The card base is SU's So Saffron, layered with Tempting Turquoise and a strip of Kiwi Kiss. The DS paper is from Basic Grey's Urban Prairie line.

I added some dazzling diamonds and then of course some cotton candy bon bons from Stamping Bella.

I had a lot of fun completing these sketches and I am looking forward to seeing the releases from Verve and Stamping Bella (look out Mr Credit Card!!)

WOW 2 post in one day...

Trust me this will not be a recurring occurance; but I was so caught up in the Looking for Love Release Week Challenge - I have become obsessed with completing it!

This is the 2nd one in the Verve challenge and I played along with the ColorThrowdown Challenge this week.

For the layout I inked up
one of my many negelected Stamping Bella stamps - loopy daisy which is stamped with SU's basic black on Very

Vanilla and used oval Nesties to cut
the image out, it is mounted on SU's Mellow Moss.

The card base is SU's Baja Breeze, layered with Mellow Moss and a layer of Baja Breeze which I embossed with Cuttlebugs Petals and Swirls. I coloured the image with a blender pen using re-inkers in Mellow Moss and Baja Breeze then added some dazzling diamonds to the image.

Along the edge I added some glass pearls in baby blue from Stamping Bella. The ribbon is SU''s taffeta in Mellow Moss

These were 2 great challenges; thanks to both for the
inspiration & only 1 card to go for the Verve challenge!!

Verve Challenge 1 & 3

I was on SCS today and was reading the Looking for Love Release week Challenge from Verve; leading up to their new release on Friday - What a fantastic challenge. You simply have to complete all four challenges and post them on SCS by noon Mtn time on Friday and you can win stamps! Of course that means I have to make four cards by then BUT it's the same time zone so I think I can do it between now and then - really I have 2 down and only 2 to go....

The first card is the 3rd challenge VSLFL3. For this card I used the colour challenge colours that were still on my desk. The stamp is an old one from my stash; I think it was one of the first stamps I bought way back when (aside from SU) it's by MSE. The image is stamped on SU whisper white with Riding hood red, and the DS is SU's Riding hood red, mounted on SU's basic black and the base is SU's kraft. I added some punched flowers and red bon bons from Stamping Bella.

This is for the colour challenge VSLFL1 - Riding hood red; Kraft and Blush Bloosom. For this I used SU's Garden Whimsy; which I love. I stamped the images with Blush Blossom then "rocked" them in Riding hood Red; I did this 2x then cut and just glued down the edges to give the flying effect. Of course they need to shimmer so I added some dazzling diamonds.

A Shoppin' We Will Go....

I have to say being sick this past week has affected my groove; just can't seem to get it together.

I do love anything Stella from Stamping Bella; when she was first released I told Nicky & Em I wasn't so sure, then after making a couple cards with Nicky at Stamping Bella I was hooked - how could you not love her?!

Stella Goin' Shoppin' is stamped on Gina K 80lb white cs, and naturally coloured with copics. To give her shoes the patten look a fine lady like Stella deserves I added a coat of SU's Crystal Effects.

The DS paper is from Paper Trunk; called "Jellybean" and I actually only had one sheet so I am shocked that I cut into it. Yep I tend to buy in twos because if I just have one sheet I might not want to cut into it; I know I must get over this....

The image & DS paper is mounted on SU's Regal Rose & basic black and the card base is SU's Kraft. I needed a little bling on the image so I used my SU's Word Window punch with the Regal Rose and added a some Charcoal bon bons from Stamping Bella.
