At the good ol' Hockey Game...

When we went to Montreal last weekend for the NHL All Star game we were guests of one of the companies hubby deals with so I made a thank you card for them.
Amy R's sketch for this week worked perfectly with the stamp I found in my stash (I think it's from Michael's 1.50 bin)
The image is stamped on Gina K's Pure Luxury CS and coloured with copics then mounted on SU's Night of Navy cs; both cut with nesties.

The card base is SU Riding Hood Red and the Ribbon is also Riding hood Red. The DS paper was in my stash; the one has the definition of Hockey, the other has a team logo on one side (Edmonton of course) then the side I used looks like ice after it's been skated on. The senitment is from SU's short & sweet set - I love the font and size of those words.

I decorated the inside with layers of SU's Night of navy and the DS paper I liked the look of the ice with skate marks and it would be easier to write our thanks.

Sorry for the late post; we have company staying with us so I didn't get it set to post early this morning - I am hoping I will find time to stamp this weekend

Thanks for stopping by and having a look - have a great Saturday

ALL WRAPPED UP....

Whew here is the last post for today - for this card I used Taylor's sketch that Ana Wohlfart showed.

I stamped Stamping Bella's Wrapped in Love on Gina K's Pure Luxury cs and coloured the image with copics. For the hearts I coloured them then added some stickles. I cut the image and a piece of SU's regal rose with nesties rectangle and scallop rectangle.
The card base is SU's Pink Pirouette, then I ran a piece of SU's Sahara Sand through a sizzix embossing plate and inked the hearts with Pink Pirouette. I used SU's Bravo Burgundy to mount the Sahara sand piece and the ds paper from Basic Grey's Bittersweet line. The heart is punched with Martha Stewart's heart punch and I inked the edges of the heart with Rose Red ink. To finish off the image I added some Cotton Candy Bon Bon's from Stamping Bella.

Well, I managed to make 4 cards yesterday, but I must admit I still have to put my suitcase away from the weekend so I hope I can get my domestic chores done so I can make something for tomorrow! Thanks to Taylor for the great cupcake celebration; I just wish I could have completed all the sketches

Have a great Thursday

snail mail...

These little Huggabuggs from Stamping Bella are SOOOO cute!
For this card I used Taylor's sketch TECC52DB, the sample is on Donna Baker's blog.
The DS paper used for this card is again Basic Grey's Off beat - I loved all the funky colours and it gave me a lot of options for colouring the little bug. Snaily Huggabugg is stamped on Gina K's Pure Luxury cs and coloured with copics, then mounted on SU's Kiwi Kiss - both images cut with large and small labels from nesties. I used Atyou Spicas on teh snails polka dots and added glitter to the wings. For the antenna's I used Hero art gems
The sentiment is stamped on SU whisper white with Baja Breeze and mounted on Kiwi Kiss, both cut with SU's large & small ovals
This was a fun image to work with - and sadly most of my mail has to travel by snail mail because it's always late & I'm sure it has nothing to do with me....
Have a great day

Taylor's challenge 2

I finished 3 more cards for Taylor's year of the cupcakes celebration, so there will be 3 posts today - yep I go from no posts to 3; I need to find some balance!!

When I saw this sketch on Monica Davis's blog I figured I wouldn't do it because of the circle design, but I bought this Basic Grey Bohemia stamp after using it at a class with Kate at Scrapbookers Paradise North and she convinced me (not hard!) that I needed it.

I used su Sponge daubers to ink the image with SU's Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze. I added some dazzling diamonds to the butterfly.

To cut the card base I used my collozzle (large circles) and left the top uncut, then I took a little off the bottom so the card could stand. The baja breeze circle is cut with my nesties. The DS paper is from Basic Greys offbeat line.

Thanks for stopping by - there are still 2 more posts; it's less confusing on me to do them separately & I am still working on getting my coffee intake ....

First of Taylor's challenge

I have to admit I was a little sad about going away last weekend when I saw Taylor's AMAZING challenge Celebrating 1 Year of Cupcakes - I would have loved to complete all 9 sketches BUT will have to settle on as many as I can before Thursday evening.

This is the first one I finished; it's for a friend who celebrated his 60th b-day this week & I am meeting him for lunch Thursday :)

I used the sketch found on Stephanie's blog. For this card I used SU's Happy Everything and Bitty Birthday stamps. To make the card masculine I used SU's Night of Navy CS and Basic Grey's "granola" DS paper. I added SU's apricot ribbon, which looks yellow and used So Saffron to mount the cake on. The image is coloured with copics and I used Liquid Applique for the icing on the cake. I like stamping my words on ribbon and this layout worked perfectly for that.

Since the base was Night of Navy I decorated the inside of my card. I mounted SU's whisper white on SU's basic grey and then used SU's photo corner punch with some of the DS paper. The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy & is from the Bitty Birthday set.

I'm finishing off 3 more sketches so I will be back on Thursday to post them - remember if you are taking part all posts have to be on SCS by this evening

Thanks for stopping by - the others should be up soon :)

I accept Janet's Challenge

Janet sent a challenge to me so I decided to do it -1st still no card made and not sure if it will happen before morning & 2nd who doesn't like a challenge?!

The challenge is to go into your picture files, open the 6th folder & post the 6th picture - I am really happy with what mine turned out to be!

This picture is from a trip to Varadero Cuba in March of 2003. We had just moved to Toronto & hubby hadn't started his job so we decided to take a vacation before life got crazy. This picture is taken from where we sat most days, that is the long walk (in the pool) to the swim up bar, as soon as I started under the bridge the bartender would start blending my
drink & I have to say we have had the same fantastic bartenders the next 2x we went. Hmm
with the cold and snow we have had maybe we need to go back sooner than planned!! The other reason I love remember this trip is we booked through a travel agent in TO and we became great friends :)

Now I have to challenge 6 people, Janet challenged my BFF so I shall challenge some other great friends

Nancy - Card worthy
Charlene - Willow & Paisley
Wendy - Bond Girl Bliss
Em - Bloggabella
Nicky - Stamping Creations by Nicky

Amy - Tsuruta Designs

Hope to have a card SOON - have a great day

The card base is Regal Rose, layered with Kiwi Kiss DS paper and a piece of Bravo Burgundy which is embossed with tiny bubbles.

No Fair Girl is stamped on Gina K Pure Luxury paper and mounted on Regal Rose cs both cut with nesties labels large & small.

The image is coloured with Lyra pencils & mineral spirits and I added stickles to her dress

The sentiment is cut with SU's small oval punch layers on Bravo Burgundy

let's hang out

This is one of the many new images from Stamping Bella that has made it's way to my house :)
For this layout I used BSC64 from SCS - it worked perfectly with the vertical image of branching out owlies

The image is stamped on Gina K Pure Luxury paper and coloured with copics. The card base is SU's Pink Pirouette layered with Basic Grey DS paper from their Bittersweet line. The image is mounted on SU's Pink Pirouette and both are cut with nesties.
The sentiment is stamped with memento brown ink and mounted on SU's Chocolate Chip and Pink Pirouette cs. I used SU's word window for the tag on the side and added a soft pink dot from Stamping Bella

I added crystal effects to make the owls eyes glassy looking but I'm not sure it will show up in the picture

Thanks for stopping by have a great day

little daisy...

Just a quick post and card today - this one came together quick with less layers then I usually do!

Miss Daisy Bittybloom is stamped on Gina K Pure Luxury paper and cut with a round nesties and layered on a piece of SU's Rose Red cut with the circle scallop nesties. I coloured her with lyra pencils and mineral spirits and paper pieced the center of the flower, it is SU's Rose Red. To give daisy a bit of bling I outlined the flower and flower skirt using a gelly roll pen.

The card base is SU's Pink Pirouette and the DS paper is from Basic Greys Bittersweet collection. I added Pink Pirouette ribbon to finish the card

Sorry this doesn't appear to be the best picture but the lighting is horrible in my room

Thanks for stopping by & have a great Saturday

ALL SU CARD!! (well almost...)

Yep I actually almost made an all SU card

The layout is from a sketch challenge my BFF found for us, I didn't get it done in time but wanted to post the link for you as this Karen
Giron's first sketch challenge and they come up on Sundays.
The colour is from
Kristina Werners colour inspiration.

I chose SU's CELEBRATE and used makers to colour the image; it is stamped on whisper white cs, layered on So Saffron, Real Red, and Green Galore. I used a the new texturz plate to emboss the papers. They are mounted on SU basic black and the base is NOT SU - darn... I was so close to having an all SU card. The base is Gina K's Pure Luxury 120 lb cs.

The flowers are SU's pretties (I think I have only used them once before!!) and I coloured the flowers with my markers to match

Thanks for the inspiration Karen & Kristina and thanks for stopping by

Dana

Are You as Graceful As..

TWINKLE TOES?!?! I can tell you I am NOT - I think I missed the graceful gene!! OK is she not the cutest thing?!

For this sketch I used Lauren's mytimes20 sketch; it was the perfect layout for twinkle toes

I stamped the image on Gina K Pure Luxury CS and cut the image with my nesties circle then mounted it on a nesties scallop circle in SU's Chocolate chip. The DS paper is Basic Greys Eva and it is mounted on SU's chocolate chip, layered on SU's Pink Pirouette which is embossed with Swiss dots and layered on SU's chocolate chip cs.

I coloured the image with copics BUT I paper pieced her dress. The bottom layer of the skirt is the pink from the Basic Grey and then I cut the top and part of the skirt from the other Basic Grey paper I used on the card. I wanted to have her skirt floating and fluttering as if she is moving & I have to say I am really happy with how it turned out! On her wings I painted Bella liquid glitter. On her antenna's I used silver stickles to give them glitter and dimension. I added some Chocolate Primas and Cotton Candy Bon Bons.

For the inside I used a piece of SU's pink pirouette and added 2 larger photo corners punched in the Basic Grey DS paper with SU's photo corner punch.

This is a true girly girl card - now I just have to find the right girly girl who is graceful like twinkle toes!

She also created banners for my BFF Karen (Paper Playhouse), Charlene (Willow & Paisley) and Taylor (Taylored Expressions) She is SOOO amazing!!!

Thanks for stopping by, and to all of you who contact Nancy thanks for supporting her amazing cause

going places...

I found this great challenge on SCS for MFT stamps
(MFTWTG18) if you don't have "ride 'em cowgirl"
you can use any WTG set BUT you had to use Red, white & Blue in honour of the inauguration in the States. Well I don't have "ride 'em cowgirl" SO I called "Going Places" before my BFF could :) Yep you have to be fast when we are on the phone planning cards!
I used the mojo monday week 70 layout for this card - so I managed to do 2 challenges YEAH!!

The image is stamped with Memento black on Gina K Pure Luxury paper and coloured with copics, I did stamp her dress in Riding Hood Red and paper pieced.

The DS paper is SU's Riding Hood Red, and the blue is SU's Pacific Point - I love the bright blue with this red.

I used my nesties for the circle, and the card base is Gina K's 120lb Pure Luxury. I really like it as a base but have found you HAVE to score the fold then gently crease it otherwise you may not have a clean fold.

I did have to add some colour to the land on the map; didn't think it would look right with white or red! The water is coloured with copics then I added blue pearlescent watercolours to give it some shine.

For the labels on the suitcase I stamped the image on Gina K 120lb Pure Luxury and paper pieced them, for small white images this is great to use because it is thick and easy to handle

Thanks for stopping by - have a great Wednesday, we are on our last warm day for awhile; winter temps are back on their way tomorrow

Rumor has it....

I am in LOVE with this image from Stamping Bella "Rumor has it girl" - and the sentiment is perfect for so many occasions!!

For this card I used Jen's Sketch for you to try which was a lot of fun - I look forward to her sketches every weekend

Rumor has it is stamped with Memento black ink on Gina K's Pure Luxury CS and coloured with lyras, mineral spirits using a stump. I enjoying my lyra's the more I play with them (hmmm I am sure that's what Nicky told me the first time I tried them - just need to use them & you will love them; she is such a wise sistah!!)

I loved the paper I used for Fabby the other day so I used it again on this image it's from We R memory makers and it's called nonsense -ding dong and it is mounted on SU's Baja Breeze. The card base is Gina K's Pure Luxury paper 120lbs. The image is mounted on Kiwi Kiss, and the corner is baja breeze. I used my SU's small and large oval for the sentiment; which is mounted on SU's Pumpkin Pie.

The flowers in the corner on put on with my Kajinker - they are coloured vinyl; that Em she finds all the coolest stuff!

Thanks for stopping by - have a great Tuesday

here's the scoop

I managed to complete an MFT challenge on time!

I had to flip the sketch to fit me image -

I used 2 sets from MFT the first is "here's the scoop" which I stamped on Gina K's pure luxury paper and then coloured the chair and girl with my lyra pencils, mineral spirits and stub. Every time I use them I think of Nicky :)

I decided to paper piece the floor so I used Co'ordinations paper to give it the look of a wood floor then for the wall s I chose stripes from Sassafras (hey isn't that a restaurant in Toronto?!) from their Life is Beautiful line called take a chance - really you would be taking quite the chance putting stripes like that on your wall!!

Naturally I made the ice cream chocolate; is there any other flavour to have?! To give it some glitter I used my pearlescent watercolours then on the ice cream I added some crystal effects. The image is mounted on SU's Very Vanilla and Chocolate chip. I used the distressed stripes folder from cuttlebug to emboss a piece of SU's More Mustard; then sanded down the embossed part.

The sentiment is stamped on a stamp from MFT's Going Places set on SU's very vanilla, I then added chocolate primas with SU's fire rhinestone circle brads.

Because I used SU's Chocolate Chip for the base I decorated the inside of my card. I have to say I really like how it turned out; I might have to start doing it more often! I mounted a piece of SU's Very Vanilla cs on a piece of the same designer paper. I inked the edges of the vanilla cs with chocolate chip ink. The image is from MFT's here's the scoop and the cone is stamped on SU's More Mustard, the ice cream part is naturally chocoalte.

Thanks for stopping by - have a great evening

If only I could...

jump for joy like FABBY!!! If I tried I am sure my hubby would then be loading me into the car for a trip to the hospital with some bizarre injury; some would say I am a bit of a klutz.

I am SO excited my BFF Karen booked a ticket to come for a visit!!! Yep I am already trying to think of fab things to do while she is here; when I visited her in October we went to see Madonna; nothing that exciting coming up here BUT at least we will get to hang out for a WEEK!! Really our poor hubby's will now have to listen to constant chatter about the visit - at least they are both good sports and support our need to stamp and fly to see each other for at least a week a few times a year - that's what they get for moving us away from each other!

For this card I used Amy R's sketch 54 - it was perfect for the fabby image and I loved the design - thanks Amy for the inspiration!

I inked Fabby with black memeto ink and stamped her on Gina K 80lb cardstock and I coloured her with copics to match the fab designer paper I found; it has both pumpkin & pinks mine & Karen's favs so it was a easy fit :) To give Fabby's skirt a little shimmer I added bella liquid water glitter and for her glasses I used a little crystal effects for the lenses.

The DS paper is from WeR memory makers & it's called Nonsense Ding-Dong. The base of the card is SU's pumpkin pie, and I layered the DS paper on SU's Baja Breeze then the strip is Kiwi Kiss embossed with cuttlebugs bloom dots, then sanded to give it the rough effect that is on the edges of the DS paper.

I used my new nesties curved rectangles to cut Fabby and she is layered on SU's Rose Red. I added pumpkin ribbon. The circles are SU's Baja Breeze and the flowers are put on with the Kajinker - a very cool tool that I bought in August before moving from Stamping Bella & FINALLY took it out of it's packaging! It is a tagger system & there are a lot of great shapes - for this I used small flowers.

Thanks for stopping by - have a great Sunday

It's a Flopsey kinda day

I had hoped to get this card finished last night but I went & sat for a very long time in line at the car wash to get 2 months worth of snow & dirt off my car - now I don't want to take it out of the garage!!

When I saw Taylor's sketch challenge yesterday I LOVED the layout and couldn't wait to play along!

I inked MFT's Snow Bunny Flopsey with Mementos black in and stamped him on Gina K's 120lb Pure Luxury cs because I knew I would be heating the liquid applique so I wanted the heavier cardstock. The 12olb cardstock is great because the copics (no matter how much layer you do) don't come through!

I coloured Flopsey with copics and then for his drink (hmm is that a green Starbucks mug - must be a mocha or something else that involves whip cream; treat I never have but they always look so good!) and fur on the mittens I used liquid applique with dazzling diamonds and heat set it - love how it puffs and sparkles at the same time!

The card base is SU's Pink Pirouette, layered with Kiwi Kiss and the DS paper is from American Crafts "everyday" line. Flopsey is cut with a large nesties label and the pink pirouette is cut from a small nesties label to give a smaller layer. I used Pumpkin Pie ribbon topped with some strawberry parfait dots from Stamping Bella.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Saturday

Piecing again....

For some crazy reason I started cleaning my stamp room today and re-organizing my stash; maybe it's the spring-like +8ish we hit today with more warm weather on the way or maybe it's because I had no clue what all I had for embellishments!

My goal is to start using stuff I haven't used so on this card I used DaisyBella from stamping bella; yep that's the only "newish" item on this card; maybe I will have more success on the next one!

For this card I used BSC63. DaisyBella is stamped on Gina K Pure Luxury cs with Palette Black ink and coloured with copics. I chose Basic Grey's Urban Prairie paper because I thought it matched the feel of DaisyBella. Yep the daisy is paper pieced, I don't know what has gotten into me with all the cutting!

I used nesties to cut out the image and mounted it on SU's basic black cs also cut with the nesties. The patterned paper is mounted on both SU's basic black and Baja Breeze; the card base is Rose Red. To add a little bling I used Atyou Spica on the stem of the flower and gelly roll pen on the flower on the shirt.

Finally I cut a piece of Baja Breeze with SU's word window punch and added bellas dots from Stamping bella to the it plus to the centre of the flower.

We are suppose to hit +8 to 10 C today so we should have a lot of melting, makes you think of spring here but you know another cold blast is around the corner!

Have a great Friday & thanks for stopping by

Chillin in the Snow (again...)

When I called my BFF today she asked if I had checked Kristina's colour inspiration yet because I had to do it- naturally I looked while on the phone with her & holy it's my favourite colour PUMPKIN and I LOVE it with Rose Red! So as soon as we finished chatting I had to make a card from Kristina's inspiration!

I picked MFT's Baby It's Cold Outside because I had to shovel again really it can stop snowing here ANY time!

The image is stamped on Gina K's Pure Luxury CS because I planned to colour with my Lyra's and mineral spirits but somewhere along the line I thought it would be great to paper piece her jacket since I had some SU DS paper in Rose Red, then I discovered I had some DS paper in Pretty in Pink and of course
Pumpkin so why not paper piece the whole thing?! Yeah I have to
say this was one of those ideas that sounded really good until it came to cutting each piece of the scarf and gluing them down PLUS I am really not a huge fan of cutting things out; clearly I am getting better at it with all the paper piecing I have been doing lately! I added some bella liquid watercolour glitter to the snowman and snow on the ground.

I decided to have a white background and ran a piece of SU's whisper white cs through my big shot (LOVE THAT THING) with cuttlebugs Swiss Dots for a snowy effect (again it was snowing outside my window while I was making this) The card base is SU's Rose Red and the image is mounted on SU's Pretty in Pink and Pumpkin Pie cs. I added a little Pink ribbon and the sentiment is on Pumpkin pie cs cut with SU's word window punch. I added a stamping bella dot in Bubble gum

Hope you have a great Wednesday; they keep saying it's going to warm up here, but I have noticed it keeps getting put back a day - I am starting to not believe them!

Sweet Tweet

When I saw this little Birdie from Imaginisce's new line Twitterpated I knew I HAD to have him - he is so darn cute!!

I stamped him on Gina K 80lb Pure Luxury cs with Palette black ink and coloured him in with my copics; the colour choice was easy because I was using Imaginisce's DS paper Twitterpated, Mushroom Fancy to go with him. I am so happy the paper actually works really well with SU's So Saffron, Riding Hood Red and Tangerine Tango. I was shocked when I realized how little of the Tangerine Tango I used; I love orange on cards so why has it been neglected?!

Anyways, birdie was cut out with my nesties and then I outlined the image with my Atyou Spica in black to give it a bit more definition. The sentiment so tweet is also from Imaginisce and again I went over the words with the Atyou pen. To give his beak some shine I added a little of SU's crystal effects. Then I FINALLY used some of my tangerine ribbon (again why has it been neglected?!)

Again I have to say thanks to Gloria over at Scrapbooker's Paradise north she showed me the new Imaginisce line as soon as it arrived

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day -

Chill & find your MOJO

Late post today - it's fantastic that it has finally warmed up here; it was +7C when I woke today & I like not having to bundle up BUT the winds that bring in the warm temps kill my head so it has taken me some time to find my mojo for Mojo Monday!

I decided to ink up a new stamp (for me) from MFT's Annie LaPoint's line called "chill out"

The image is stamped on Gina K's pure luxury cardstock and coloured with my copics - I wanted bright colours; maybe because when I look out my stamp room all I see is snow & I a patiently (not so much) waiting for some sign of spring!

The DS paper is from the Oopsie Daisy line from Imaginisce and it is mounted on SU's Basic black. The image is cut out with a circle nestie then mounted on the scallop - I love how the circles and scallops just give you an edge of the background.

To keep with the apparent black and white I was working with I added white primas from my stash and some black brands from basic grey
