Bella Thanks...

This is one of those cards that was totally different in my head! Once I started I realized I had no hope of my original layout so I modified a card I made when I was in the States visiting my BFF Karen. I was there in Oct we went to the Madonna concert in Boston AND we went to Joanne B's for a class - I think I was more excited about meeting Joanne since I was a lurker on her blog for a very long time!
The card is all SU products; the stamp set is Bella Blossoms & the DS paper is Bella Rose. The image is stamped in Riding Hood Red & Kiwi Kiss; I stamped the flower twice and then popped it up.

We have new neighbours; they moved in just before Christmas so I took some baking over and introduced myself; this is what my neighbours did when we moved to Toronto and I really appreciated so I made myself go out of my comfort zone and knock on their door. They have just moved here from Houston; and they of course they moved during our cold miserable -30's C. stretch. ANYWAYS they are really nice & have asked us over to watch football on New Years day so I shall take this card with me to thank them (although being a good Canadian girl I am torn because we are invited over while the "Winter Classic" game between Chicago & Detriot is on)

Hope you all have a fantastic New Years Eve; we are going to the hockey game tonight - I am really excited because my Edmonton Oilers are in town to take on the Flames; GO OILERS!!

Thanks for stopping by & have a very safe New Years

Feel Better....

I made this card for my girlfriend who has been sick all through the Christmas holidays, and she is expecting so as all you Mom's know she can't take anything! They have even cancelled New Year Eve plans; poor thing!

I loved this set from MFT called Bunny Slippers, what more could you want then to be all cozy when feeling lousy?!

The card worked perfectly with Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday layout. The image is coloured with copics, and I added a little glitter on the light pink parts. The DS paper is from Pink Paislee - love the vibrant colours! The card base and the image are both on Gina K Pure Luxury CS, the rest to of the CS is from SU; Rose Red and Bashful Blue. I used the cuttlebug Swiss Dots to give a little texture and added SU's taffeta ribbon. Because the paper is a little "busy" I embossed the sentiment in black to ensure it didn't get lost.

I had a lot of fun making the card; but I do wish it wasn't for a sick friend - hope you are all well after the craziness of the holidays!

Thanks for stopping by

Whose that girl?!

Thanks Jen for another fantastic SFYTT on Saturday - I had hoped to get it done earlier BUT with hubby home we had to go out & about (he can't actually stay home) and we got hit with a Chinook on the weekend; which means the weather changes drastically and the barometric pressure changes which for me = a migraine! Yes another reason why I question leaving Ont; I didn't get them nearly as often there but I remind myself we are here for hubby's paycheck and without it I wouldn't be able to stay home and stamp!

The stamp set is MFT's Who's that e-girl, as soon as I saw this stamp I had to have it! This so isn't me on the laptop, right now it's jeans or Lululemon sweats!

I paper pieced her skirt and couch and used the same paper (Bo Bunny) for her skirt and background the couch is pieced with SU designer paper in Certainly Celery and then I finished the image with my copics. Of course I needed a little Bling so I grabbed some of my many Stamping Bella bonbon candies.

Off to take down the tree; yes I know I should wait until New Years, but considering I didn't really feel like decorating it to begin with I think 2 weeks up is pretty darn good!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great Monday

YUM CUPCAKES

So I was looking at all the challenges out there and decided to try Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #48 this week, I also managed to do SCS LSC200; which was no Christmas elements; which was a nice change although I do have a couple "winter stamps" I want to get to!

Also this is an SU only card; the first I have managed to do since starting my blog; yep no copics today!

The Stamp set is SU's Crazy for Cupcakes which I stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White CS. I used blender pens and re-inkers to colour the image and finished off the "cherries" with purple fine cosmo glitter from SU because I couldn't use red in the Limited Supply Challenge.

The card base is Tangerine Tango, with Perfect Plum and a piece of Washington Apple DS paper. The ribbon is Tangerine Tango and the buttons are SU's clear and So Saffron. I mounted the image with on Tangerine Tango and Perfect Plum.

This was a fun layout to work with; thanks again Taylor!

Hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday - thanks for stopping

Thanks Cathy!!

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas; our was fantastic & my turkey dinner did turn out so I guess it is like riding a bike!
I haven't had a chance to stamp since Christmas Eve, today once we got going we went boxing day shopping - downtown Calgary is far less busy then downtown Toronto!!

I believe in always giving credit where credit is due & that is why this entry is title thank you Cathy (Lewis).
When I was still in Toronto I took a fantastic class at Scrapalicious Inc's Oakville location, Cathy Lewis was the instructor and I loved the finished product (as well as my classmates!) As soon as we finished I knew I would be "casing" the idea for my family.

The pattern paper used is from Basic Grey's Urban Prairie, and I used the matching buttons. i don't recall what line the black paper is but it's stunning with an embossed pattern on it. The other accessories are Prima, Rub Ons and Stamping Bella Baubles for a little bling.

I sent one to my parents & brothers as part of their gifts; this is the latest picture of the whole family and as my brothers families grow up you realize how much you need to cherish every moment you have with them.

I hope EVERYONE was able to enjoy time with their family this holiday season; or with your friends who really are you 2nd family

Thanks for stopping by & thanks again Cathy

Beautiful Cards...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Today I wanted to show some of the beautiful cards I received - since I have 8 coming for dinner & haven't had to cook Christmas dinner for years because my wonderful cousin in Oakville would always have us join her crew but now we are back out west so I am having to cook again. Wish me luck; I hope it's like riding a bike & you never forget how to cook a turkey!!

This was my birthday card from Leslie
the image is from Stamping Bella and
one that I received in my birthday
package so I think after Christmas I
will have to have a little "snow fight"

This is also from Leslie; LOVE the SNOWMAN, again from Stamping Bella - don't they have the best images?!

This was my Christmas card from
Leslie, yes the one and only who I
refer to whenever I manage to
make a flat knot or bow!!

This was our beautiful Christmas card from my BFF Karen who moved to the USA in June from Ontario & I miss like crazy - good thing there are amazing long distance plans!!
Thanks for stopping by -hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas with family, friends, loved ones

From our house to yours....

WOW where did the last 2 days go? Yesterday I received my birthday package from Stamping Bella (gift from my hubby) so it was Christmas early; the only problem was finding the time to make something!

I used Julee Tilmans Mojo Monday layout for this card; it was a fantastic layout to play with. The image is stamped on my Gina K Pure Luxury paper with Pallette black ik. The image is cut & embossed with nesties rectangle, then mounted on a piece of SU chocolate chip cut with the nesties scalloped rectangle. I used the nesties to cut and emboss the piece of Riding Hood Red and layed it horizontally. The DS paper is SU's ski slopes (because I hadn't cleared my space!) and it is mounted on chocolate chip. The card base is SU's Old Olive.

I coloured the image with my copics and the lights on the house and the trees are coloured with Spicas. For the windows on the house I used my Gelly Roll pen to give then a frosted look; something we had earlier in the week! A little liquid aplique for the snow, which looks like our house now-
except for the Christmas lights; maybe next year?!

My hubby really liked this card; told him it's one of the stamps he bought for my b-day & that he has great taste! :)

Well he is making dinner, since I am doing the big dinner tomorrow and has opened a bottle of wine so I will wish all of you and your families a very Merry Christmas -

A Lovely Snow Couple

How is it after making 100 cards plus I still somehow managed to be short a couple?! Instead of making a few the same I decided to ink up some of my un-used Christmas stamp THEN I can buy new ones next year because all the ones I have are old right?!

The Stamp set is from Cornish Heritage Farms, Poinsettia Snowmen. I stamped the image with my Pallette ink on Gina K Pure Luxury cardstock because I wanted to colour the image with my copics.

Somewhere between when I stamped the image & went to colour I thought it would be brilliant to paper piece the apron, scarf & hat. Now those of you who know me know how much I LOVE to cut; what was I thinking?! Once I finished the piecing I did colour the rest of the image with my copics.

For the card base I used Kiwi Kiss layered with Baja Blue, then mounted a piece of SU Ski Slope DS paper on Riding Hood Red - yes I do seem to like SU's IN COLORS. The image was again perfect for one of my nesties, and I mounted it on Kiwi Kiss. I egdged my image with a copics marker in the blue closest to Baja Blue.
A little glitter on the snowflakes & in the poinsettia's and of course I had to put a bow on it! For the embellishment I used my Martha Stewart snowflake punch and added some "string of pearls" baubles from Stamping Bella.

Thanks so much for the sketch Jen; I had a lot of fun making this card - maybe one day soon I will done Christmas cards?!

Hope everyone has a fantastic day - 2 more sleeps.....

Bundle up Against the Cold

This is another of my Chirstmas cards, but it is fitting because it's still so cold here that everytime you go out you have to bundle up with a hat (toque for all the Canadians out there!) & scarf.

The image is MFT's A Scarf for 3, which I loved as soon as it was released - I have a weakness for snowmen what can I say.

I stamped the image with my Pallette ink on Papertry White cardstock and coloured it in with my copics.
The border I trimmed down and mounted it on black to give the edging, then added a layer SU's Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze cardstock.

The DS paper is My Minds Eye, I love that it's not traditional colours especially the hint of pink. I used an old sketch challenge from MFT for this layout (MFTSC58) because I felt it really worked with the image. The DS paper is mounted on SU Riding Hood Red, the cardbase is SU Baja Breeze.

I added SU's Kiwi Kiss double sided ribbon, and stamped my sentiment on the ribbon then finally used my Martha Stewart snowflake punch and finished it off with some Stamping Bella Dots in Platinum

Thanks for stopping by & I hope everyone has a fantasic Monday!

A Quick Christmas Card?!

This year I was enjoying some of my new stamps, like MFT's Baby It's Cold Outside, and watercolouring or others that I used my copics with; it was just so relaxing, THEN on Dec 10 I realized I only had about 25 cards made & we send out over 100 plus several go overseas - CRAP! I needed to come up with a "quick & easy" design.

I immediately thought out SU's Big On Christmas because it super quick -just colouring in the letters and boom done. So I picked my colours; all the retired in colours from last year, Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi & and the image is stamped on Whisper White.

When I looked at the Purely Pomegrante I decided it needed a little something so I put it through my Big Shot (will emboss 2 perfectly) with Swiss dots. I then looked at my other layers and again felt it needed a little more so I decided to run all 76 pieces though the big shot with my new Curved Rectangles Nesties; I cut 2 at a time but did emboss them separately because I wanted the embossing to really show.

I stamped the image with SU basic black and coloured it with reinkers and blender pens. Again I didn't like how flat the card looked SO I stamped the trees & snowmen, coloured them, added a little crystal effects on the tree bulbs, and Gelly rolled the garland and outlined the words to make them sparkle. After cutting all the images and popping them up I decided to pop up the mounted image as well.

Yep I came up with a "quick" design!!

My First Challenge....

Since starting a blog was outside my comfort zone; I decided to really add to the stress level (like there isn't enough during the holidays) and try Taylor VanBruggen's Cupcake Challenge this week.
The easy part was the cupcakes - they are Stamping Bella's Mommy and Baby Cupcake which have been patiently waiting to be inked since I moved. (had a wee bit of a shopping spree at Stamping Bella before the moving truck came). The sentiment is also from Stamping Bella.

I received my birthday order from Gina K today so I immediately had to try the 80lb Pure Luxury cardstock I ordered because I was told I would love using it with my copics. I have to say I was amazed at how easily the colours flowed on the paper, thanks for the recommedation Karen (my hubby thanks you too!) I then added a little dazzling diamonds to give it a little bling. The candles are coloured with my Atyou Spica Lemon (love those)

I used my Nesties circle for the image and the scalloped circle in Kiwi Kiss for mounting; I also inked the edges of my circle with Kiwi Kiss to make the edges a little softer. I don't know about you but I love my Nesties; what did we do before them?!

The designer paper is by Heidi Grace Designs and is called Reagan's Closet; this came in one of my many packages from Stamping Bella; I just ask Em to pick for me - she is so Fantatic!

I embossed the Pink Pirouette cardstock with Bloom Dots because the flowers and circles are similar to the pattern on the paper. A little chocolate ribbon with a lovely bow; again a lesson from Leslie - without her there would not be any bows on my cards!

Thanks for stopping by - it was nice to make this card and have a break from all things winter

Baby it's Cold Outside

This was one of my Christmas cards - but I didn't realize how true to life it would be, it has been cold and snowy in Calgary for too long!

I stamped MFT's Whose that Girl "Baby it Cold Outside" on Fabriano Hot Pressed Paper with black Stazon and watercoloured with SU colours Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron and Blush Blossom.

The image is mounted on both Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss and popped up.

I went through my stash of new Christmas paper and chose Scenic Routes Garland and mounted it on Kiwi Kiss and added the Riding hood Red Ribbon. The lovely flat knot is because of the lesson Leslie gave me before moving; everytime I make a not I hear her lovely voice.

I added shimmer to the image with Niji Pearlescent watercolours from Stamping Bella, and the sentiment is also Stamping Bella.

Thanks for stopping by, it looks likes it going to stay "cold" here for awhile (-23c without the wind today!)

Just Starting Out...

I have been inspired by so many blogs over the years that I have decided to step out of my comfort zone and start my own - I am both excited and nervous

I hope you enjoy my creations & thanks for stopping by
