Happy Holidays

Today I have a card to share with you that is totally NOT my normal style - and I mass produced this one to make 46 of them (that's how much of the base paper I had!!)

Yesterday I was at my LSS and saw this Sizzix ornament die & embossing folder & really liked the idea of it.  I've been wanting to use some Tim Holtz distress ink on a project because I've noticed Ms Crafty Cath uses it & her cards are amazing so she has been encouraging me to purchase some (yes it was an easy push!!)

So I started with some red cs and ran it through the die; the nice thing is you can cut 4 sheets at a time & emboss 2 at a time.  Then I decided to make the topper for the ornament so I used a piece of kraft cs for that.  I then adhered it to the ornament and then used  Tim Holtz distress ink in vintage photo.  Now I must say I like the effect, but it is a little messy!!  I then decided to add the sentiment so I again ran strips of olive cs through the big shot on the ornament where I wanted it to sit (again I did 4 at a time) and then used the happy holidays sentiment from Stamping Bella and used some gold embossing powder to go with the aged effect.  I then used the distress ink on these strips & adhered them.  I didn't like the plain olive cs layer so I decided to emboss those with cuttlebugs swiss dots and again used the distress ink around the edges.  The base is SU's suede cs.

I t was a lot of fun to step outside my "box" here - I think this will be a perfect die for making gift tags too!!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day!!

Wow! 46 of them - well thats a big chuck of your Christmas cards done I'm sure.
A perfect Holiday card Dana. Love your paper colours and the swiss dot background adds to the card but doesn't take away from the ornament- Great Job!

Well outside of your box suits you girl 'cuz this is BEAUTIFUL! So glad you had fun playing with your new found distress inks. I LOVE the vintage aged feel they give to projects. I'm also a sucker for old style glass ornaments like this one and the simplicity of adding an elegant holiday greeting is refreshing!
